Remember what I said about an ark?

Well, I picked up my new irons last Wednesday (it was raining). That night, when I finally got home to look at them, I realized they were too long; for whatever reason, the guys who built them figured I was male and about 6 foot tall (which is only about...hmm...9 inches off). So, I returned the clubs to get them made correctly (in sunshine); I picked them up last night, and it has been raining ever since. Someday, I'll actually find out how these things do when they feel grass beneath them.

Until then, I keep up the search for gopher wood and try to figure out what the heck a cubit is.

As for knitting, I did get started on the Broadripple Socks in Cotton Esprit yarn. I'm knitting on two circulars for the first time in several pair; I miss the single circular big time, but it's in use on another pair of socks. So far, pretty cool pattern:

I also received my Phildar Phil Onde in the mail from Knit'N'tyme on Saturday. My props to this Canadian company; they have cool stuff that you can't find around these parts, they communicate very quickly, and the shipping is amazing. I ordered the Onde five days before it arrived on my doorstep; I have a fabric order from a shop in Rhode Island that is pushing two weeks right now. Thumbs up from the Day Camp to Knit'N'Tyme.

One step forward, 12 skeins back

Well, progress has been made on the Cables and Lace Cardigan. Slow going, but worthwhile:

This is one of the softest cotton yarns I've ever worked with--really awesome considering it's recycled stuff! It still does the ever popular splitting that cotton will do, but I can deal with that with the results so far.

Of course, with progress, one must expect a modicum of setbacks. This setback is courtesy of Elann.com:

There's another nine skeins of the peachy stuff, which will eventually go into a top-down short sleeved pullover. The sock yarn (a Fixation wannabe) is for the Broadripple knitalong, which I may start this weekend during the NFL Draft (the best reality TV around this weekend, if you ask me). Of course, you knitalong enablers out there also have that Phildar Onde knitalong, featuring this gorgeous new variegated stuff that changes really slowly. Like I really need another project...

You guessed it....the yarn is on its way. I'm truly pathetic.

Ahhh....Spring....

It only took forever to get here, but Northeast Ohio is finally enjoying Spring! The lawn got cut, gutters were repaired, the screen door was put back in....felt so good to do it yesterday, and today is even more beautiful!! How to enjoy it today?

Road trip. I need that Lucy Neatby pattern, and it just happens to be at the LYS on the east side of town. Darn. Guess the sunroof will have to be open. What a pity. I'll tear up my flower beds when I get home, then put up my new golf hitting net that my folks got me for my birthday.

Did I mention I love Spring???

Oh, and so do the local fauna. This couple has returned to my swimming pool cover for years:

They're not exactly the swallows returning to Capistrano, but, hey, it's Ohio. Mallards are pretty nice birds, too. By the way, someone else is interested in the view:

As for the knitting, I finished all of the pieces for the Kilkeel last night!! Woo hoo!! As for getting inspired to weave in ends and start blocking...well, that didn't happen. Here's the last piece:

I may get inspired later today, but I did start something new. Elann.com has a cute cables and lace cardigan pattern that is designed for mercerized AND non-mercerized cotton that I just had to do.

I'm using Naturelle 8/8 recycled cotton for the sweater--really soft for a cotton fiber, that's for sure. Couldn't pass up on the price, either. Here's the first 7 rows:

The body of the cardigan is made in one piece; the sleeves are separate. After all of the pieces are knitted, they are thrown in the washer (along with a 6x6 swatch to be unraveled and used to sew the project) to shrink. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes--should be really cool.
