Holiday weekend, here I come!

I don't know about you, but I am so ready for a holiday weekend it's sick. It's been one of those work weeks where too many little things were bothering me; somewhat akin to a Chinese water torture:

Drip.......drip......drip......

Enough to annoy, but not enough to really piss off, you know what I mean? However, for the first time in I can't remember how long, I have Memorial Day off, so it's off to Kelleys Island for some serious R & R and pollen exposure. I'm ready. Of course, I may have to stop off at the LYS in Marblehead, Ohio on the way to the ferry dock. Lord knows I could use the yarn. NOT.

Speaking of Chinese water torture, I did golf yesterday. Forgot the hip waders; big mistake. I did manage to shoot under 50 for 9 holes, which wasn't all bad, but I saw something I've never seen before on a golf course. I was walking up the 8th fairway, waiting on one of my foursome to shoot, when I happened to see something odd in one of the sand traps (which are puddle-laden from the storms these past weeks).

A ball? No

A sock? No

A shoe? No

A fish? YES.

There was a dead fish, probably some sort of rock bass, laying near the puddle in the trap. I'm guessing the nearby lake (about 100 yards away) had flooded the course and left this little guy stranded in the trap as the water receded. Last week, it was ducks swimming in the fairway, now this? Can't wait to see what else is coming our way.

Oh yeah, knitting update. The back of the resurrected cotton tape pullover is done:

It's pretty cool. It sorta pales in comparison to the fish story, but what can I say?

Transformation

Remember this?

Well, it's now this:

More specifically, I am using the Rowan Cotton Tape along with Trendsetter Chic to make this pullover by Laura Bryant:

So far, here's what we have:

This cotton tape stuff makes up so much more interestingly with a little more oomph added alongside. I'm also liking the size 11 needle activity. If it weren't for ripping this once after four inches was done, I'd be at the sleeve shaping already!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The Rainbow Socks are done:

I would have modeled them, but my legs are in a dire need of a shave right now.

Time to gather the animals

I've had it with Cleveland weather. I mean, I've REALLY had it. Those of you in the upper Midwest can attest to the slop we've called Spring for the past two weeks. Today, yet another round of storms, and they're saying this pattern won't break for days. My mold allergy is going nuts. Golfing is a joke. I'm hoping to do some planting tomorrow, but I'm afraid the flowers will be drowned.

Did I ever mention that I love the desert?

OK, enough beyotching. I have reached the split point on the Cables and Lace Cardigan--yay!

It's starting to get a tad boring, but I will finish it if it kills me. Even though there are other things staring at me to knit...

Or just staring at me:

She really is not a mutant.

Public Service Announcement: River Colors Studio is having its official Grand Opening in their big new Lakewood, Ohio store on Saturday, May 22--I've already been there (three times in the past two weeks), and I must say it's a must-see LYS. Plenty of yarn, especially some fancy stuff. If you are in the Cleveland area, it is THE store on the west side.

It's simple, really...

...God just doesn't want me to play golf. Last week, I was supposed to play 45 holes--I managed 18. Tonight, I was thinking about hitting the driving range. This is what I got:

Trust me, those ain't 1/2 inch golf balls on the ground.
