My warranty has to be running out.

I'm 45 years old. It's becoming painfully clear over the past several months that I am, how you say, "premenopausal." To spare all of you the gory details, it will have to suffice to say that I now have two days every month where I pretty much need to be near a bathroom every hour or two, not to mention near a large bottle of ibuprofen. Or Vicodin. Today, I spent a good portion of the day in some variation of the fetal position trying not to barf.

It sucks. And no one on eBay seems to want to buy a used uterus. Guess it's time to call the doc and see what we can do to assure me that my trip out to Vegas in October won't be yucky. I mean, I spend HOURS at blackjack tables. I can't just get up when the luck's rolling, right? I'm guessing meds are in my future (I did them in my youth when my hormones were first completely out of whack). As long as they keep me from needing a freakin' transfusion every month, I'm all for them. We'll see what the doc has to say.

Once I regained movement this afternoon, I finished up the front of the latest project. I altered a pattern in this book:

Basically, the alteration was to add boob space. So what else is new? Anyhow, I used up yarn that has been languishing in Ikealand for a while as well as the leftovers from the last sweater and some novelty stuff that was half off at the LYS (I'm living right, I guess), and here's the result:

The blue isn't sparkly--that's just water. The lavender and novelty do have a sparkle, though:

I'm really pumped with how this is turning out. That blue stuff has been frogged from other projects twice already in the past three years. The lavender stuff has been in a closet for at least three years. I'll have this thing finished, hopefully, before Stitches Midwest next month, so there will be lots of room in Ikealand.

Don't have any idea why I'll need space. Of course, I'm on medication right now....my memory may be a bit off.

Some decisions shouldn't have to be made

It always seems as though I have something going on on the evening of my knitting guild's picnic, which is coming up on Tuesday. This year, sadly, is no exception. A decision had to be made, and after much consternation, sadly, guild loses again.

To Dollar Dog Night at Jacobs Field.

The picture, of course is sacriligious. Everyone knows a hot dog should only be adorned with a ribbon of Bertman's Ballpark Mustard.

It's just common sense.

Knitting and baseball go good together

I was on call this weekend, which basically meant I didn't do much except watch the Tribe on TV. I would mow the lawn, but with our lack of rain this summer, that hasn't been necessary. I'm hopeful that no one lights a match around here...it could be ugly.

Where was I? Oh, yeah...on my couch wielding the size 7's watching the Indians take two of three from Kansas City. I was a knitting animal this weekend. Finished the last sleeve on that Berroco pullover today and...you may want to sit down...sewed up the thing this afternoon! Here's the proof:

This should give you some idea of all of the cabling on the sleeves, side vents, and neckline:

I had a bit of trouble late in the pattern when my stitch height gauge wasn't jiving with the pattern, but a few adjustments later, and you can't tell how much I fudged. It's a very pretty sweater. I just hope I don't promptly spill spaghetti sauce on it.

I have that kind of talent. And boobs.

I think I'm flattered

I was out this evening with my usual gang of friends (all three of them) that meets at our local BW-3's on Monday night for cheap beer and trivia. We were chatting about all manner of stuff when the subject of Mr. Michigan came up. Within a second of his name being mentioned, my cell phone rang.

It was the man. Calling from vacation out west.

I told him that his ears had to be ringing, but he didn't seem to hear the comment. All he had to say was that he and the kids were driving back to Yellowstone looking at the sunset over these:

Those would be the Grand Tetons. I asked if that made him think of me.

It got a laugh.

For 231, you don't look bad!

Happy 4th of July to all you former colonists out there! I was hoping to be out and about with golf clubs today, but the forecast scared everyone away from making plans.

We got about five drops of rain. Our weather people are morons.

So, I'm here en casa with Grady. I did manage to grill some chicken outside (yum) and clean out the pool a bit. Now that the sun is coming out, I figure I'll go out and try to soak up some rays. That should guarantee a storm.

As for knitting, I did get the knitting forever stage done on my latest pullover. It's from a Berroco pattern book (it's the only pattern in that particular book that doesn't look like I should be dousing myself in patchouli and singing Kumbaya). I'm using a Berroco yarn whose name escapes me at this time, but it's a cotton blend.

The side vents and arms have a nice little cable trim:

It's a nice pattern, for the most part. I'm curious to see how much cleavage the front wants--the photo looks a little interesting. I may need to shorten the neck a little bit so I don't frighten anyone.

Speaking of fright, I have now reached the lining and zipper stage for the Noni bag.

I could be here a while. The zipper class is still a month off.
