All that's left is the wrapping!

The Christmas carols are playing, the Browns won, I had a great phone call with the Michigan Man...it's all warm and fuzzy around Leonaland today. All I need is a mug of hot cocoa.

Don't have any. I'll settle for a beer. Ho ho ho!!!

Aran weight is your friend

So, the Christmas knitting is rounding second and heading for third. My sister-in-law's sweater is in limbo at the moment, however. Despite my best efforts, I ran out of the Cascade with about 3 inches of sleeve #2 to go. This is Cascade I bought from the LYS that's going out of business. You know...limited stock.

I knew Christmas wouldn't go off without at least one hitch.

So, tomorrow I zoom out of the office to the shop to hopefully find the right dye lot. Or at least something extremely close. If not, there may be some frogging in my future. Stay tuned.

I did get the Beaverslide Dry Goods wool in the mail, so I got to work on my niece's gloves. She had asked for gloves in "Tangerine," which to her was a nice pale peachy orange. I didn't locate "Tangerine," but I did find another food that seems close to me.

Let's get a look at "Cutthroat Trout:"

The original, as you recall from further down the page, is not nearly this nice. My Mom referred to it as a product from a third world country. Anyhow, this wool is uber soft, loaded with lanolin, and really toasty warm. She'll love these gloves. Or else.

My nephew's pair is now underway:

It took about an hour to get to this point. I love aran weight and size 9's. A pair of gloves can be whipped up in two nights of primetime TV. My kind of Christmas gift. And yes, that's a close-up of Cutthroat Trout on the thumb stitches.

Looks more like a tangerine.
