This page is my best effort to chronicle the odyssey that has been "Dear Jane." I first discovered the quilt while surfing the net. I soon realized I was in BIG trouble! Once I received the book by Brenda Papadakis from the Dear Jane Website (www.dearjane.com), I knew I had to give it a try.
Jane Stickle's original quilt, made "In War Time, 1863" according to the stitching on the lower right corner triangle, is made from fabrics of the period in a "Trip Around The World" pattern. It consists of 169 4.5 inch squares and 56 triangles, all different in pattern. The original is at the Bennington Museum in Vermont. My version, or "Baby Jane," is made from Benartex Fossil Ferns with a Hoffman batik background. It also follows the "Trip Around The World" pattern. The first blocks were completed on April 22, 2001. I hope to frequently update the Virtual Design Wall (concept courtesy of Sharon Mastbrook--click here to go to her website).
